Is there a way to pass through original identification?

Is there a way to pass through original identification? Just to explain: If my colleague transfers me a call, I see his phone number, not a number of a caller. How can I see the number of the caller if the call is transferred to me?

Check the Incoming Caller ID Information under call handeling for the extension you want to make this change.

The options are in there

Thanks

I could be wrong but I'm not seeing how the answer solves the original poster's issue.  I think I am having the same issue.  A marketing firm called us today and reached one user.  When they transferred to call to our marketing person, the transferred call just showed the phone number of the extension that transferred the call, NOT the phone number of the marketing firm.  The hope is that there is a way to, at the very least, let the user know that the incoming call is a transfer.  Better case is that a cold transfer would actually show the original caller ID (in this case, the number of the marketing firm) instead of the transferring extension number.  Very best case would be for the phone to show both (that it's a transfer from extension XXXX as well as the caller ID of the original caller).

After working with this for a bit longer, I have found that you CAN pass through the caller ID of the original caller if you do a blind transfer (on a VVX-500, press Transfer, then Blind in the upper right, then enter the number) and when the receiver's phone starts ringing it will show the original caller's information.  If you do a warm transfer it only shows the information of the person attempting to make the transfer.  RingCentral Support told me this was a bug and that they were working on getting it to show the original info.  In the case of a warm transfer, it would be nice if the Caller ID panel showed both (e.g. Transfer from ext. 5051 of call from Jim's Gym 919-555-1212).

Hi dave8147,  I'm not sure when this feature will be added. For now, the only way to get the original caller id to show up is to do a cold, or blind transfer.  You can do this by they can just pressing ## + extension number.

Important: The person transferring MUST remain on the call until the recipient answers otherwise the call is dropped.

I hope this helps.

Hi Mike thanks for the info we have poly com vvx500s so the facility is their to do a blind transfer problem is we have calls from admin eg "I have Mr .... On the phone do you want to talk to him her now " we then decide if we are going to speak to them or not guess we will have to wait until this feature is available . I'm certainly surprised that the caller ID isn't just passed through though this also presents a problem with the automatic call recording as well initially I didnt need to record my staff talking to each other extension to extension only incoming calls however if the call is transferred the only thing recorded is the initial call to the operator once the call is passed on the recording is stopped unless I set the system to record all extensions as well

Thanks for comments dave8147,

I realize it's often more appropriate to do a warm transfer.  Hopefully we can get this feature added at some point.  It always helps to voice your comment on the Idea topics.  Visit this page and click the "like" button.
