How vital is it to have a QoS RC approved router?

I've been having issues with RC and I'm trying to diagnosis whether it's our network settings or just Ringcentral. I've been upgrading our network and I'm currently using the Apple Airport Extreme. I was unaware that RC had recommended routers so now I'm looking at switching systems to one of their recommended units. I'm wondering what improvements people have experienced swicthing to QoS routers. Was there a marked improvement?

To add to the above, I've found that even a single phone on a cheap router will not work well. The Airport Extreme is a fine consumer router, but it's probably not going to handle VoIP traffic very well. I recommend upgrading to one of our recommended routers.
