Setting up a multi-WAN network and what router to use

My company has been experiencing issues with call quality as well as call drops along with internet disruption due to the amount of people we have on our network.  To solve this our ISP has recommended that we purchase an additional internet connection and get setup on a multi-WAN network.

I have been researching routers that allow for multi-WAN capabilities and I have found that the Cisco RV016 is recommended for this purpose but you do not recommend this router for use with RingCentral phones.  Is there an alternative router (decently priced below $700) recommend that supports multi-WAN capabilities or why specifically is the RV016 not recommended?

Hi Jesse, do you have separate cabling for your phones and PC's or are you using only one network drop at each location and the switch on the phone.


What phone are you using?


If the cabling is separate then this could be accomplished with a static IP and additional router for the phones. 


How many users are we talking about>

The Way our office is setup we are running PC's and phones from the same locations but they are not using the switch inside the phone (ie one group of desks has a single network connection but all PCs and phones are attached to a switch separately).

We are using the Cisco IP Phone 303.

There are about 15 phones on the network and approx 30-35 computers on the network.

Hi Jessie, sorry for the delay.  So if you have each device, phone and PC on a separate network cable  back to your IT room, then you could put the phones on on switch and all other network devices on the other,  Then a separate router just for the VOIP traffic.  I have this setup for customers with high call volume or many devices on the network

It has been a great setup for me and it very cost effective.  Adding an additional static IP is usually 8 - 20 per month from your ISP and a router for just phone traffic is about $100.00

This will probably solve your issue

Hello Jesse,

We install SonicWall devices for our clients, they are very solid routers and have dual internet connections, however the binding of two internet connections may not work out very well for you.
If your connection is dropping, there may be other issues on your network besides being over used.
