RingCentral for Google RingOut Option

How can I change the RingOut number for the RingCentral for Google extension?  My deskphone is on my desk (imagine that), but I telecommute quite a bit and would like to have the extension use my cell phone or other device (softphone) to dial.

Just click the  "dialer" link, net to the red arrow and you'll see a box to enter the phone number.

There are additional instructions on this page as well.  RingCentral for Google Overview

So there is no way to set the softphone (for example, the one on my laptop) to be the source of the RingOut/Gmail feature?  I do not have a "true" softphone in the fact that there is no additional digital line for it, but I am able to use it instead of my deskphone when I am out of the office.

D Banyai ,   If you have the Softphone installed on your laptop you could use it to complete the call, unless you have the softphone installed on more than one computer and the laptop is not the primary device. Then you may have to log into your account and deauthorize the other computer. (or get an additional digital line)

This is not true, as far as I can tell. If I set the line for the ringout to be my RingCentral direct dial, it only rings my deskphone, not my softphone. My softphone is set up to receive calls at my RingCentral direct dial, it just doesn't seem to get ringouts. Perhaps there's a setting somewhere I need to change that dictates which phones get ringouts? Is this "feature" in place to prevent the softphone from performing a ringout to itself?

D Banyai - did you ever get this working?

I'll post what I learn as I try to navigate this. If anyone has any insight into ringout options for the line or softphone that might help, please let us know.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Can't seem to dial out from the new gmail app. Texting works so I know it's not m.... The error I get is "Your call could not be completed. Please try again later."

I'm getting the same error "Your call could not be completed. Please try again later." and the settings doesn't have an option to add a direct dial number. I added the extension to Chrome just today, and the settings just look like this. The texting option is working for me as well, with the correct direct dial number appearing for the recipient.

My direct ID already populated that field, and I continue to get the same error: "Your call could not be completed. Please try again later." Though text is working fine, and displays my direct ID as the text sender.

Take a close look at the top of your browser when you launch the application. Look for any warning or error boxes that might be asking you for permission to run any addons. You may have to click, or right-click the warning box to accept, or allow.

Still having the issue and no error boxes come up in the browser. "Your call could not be completed. Please try again later."

Hi Susan,

Can you try changing the RingOut phone number to a different number to see if it's related to that?
Does this error happen no matter what phone number you are dialing?

If you haven't done so, uninstall the app, make sure you are on the most recent version of Chrome, reinstall the app and watch for the warning/allow message at the top of the screen again.
