Desktop app "hides" on taskbar and won't open while running

My desktop app runs when I get calls, I can see it flashing on the taskbar but it won't open when I click on it. I called about this once before and they gave me the link to re-install the original softphone, which worked. But then I had an issue with THAT doing the same thing. When I uninstalled and re-installed, it worked for a few days and started hiding again. The system is not nearly as efficient when I have to go to the website for everything. Is this a known issue with Windows 8?

It's 8.1 but I found the problem. My dual monitor system thought it had a 3rd monitor and the phone app was hanging out on the phantom monitor. I have now convinced it that we only have 2 screens :-)
