Mac soft phone resource issue (ie, bloatware much?)

Check out how Office@Hand (RingCentral from AT&T) stacks up against other applications on my mac:

Why is this such a memory hog? Is there a config issue? When will this get fixed?

If this is the way it is... I don't think we can use it. Our use case involves looking at Office documents (Word, PPT, Excel often all 3) WHILE were on the phone, WHILE checking the Web too.

Also -- I feel like the six weeks we've wasted trying to tune our AT&T managed router and firewall aren't going to help resolve the real issue:  bloatware.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can share.

Best,

Paul G.

Paul, apologies for the delayed response.

Launching RC for our Mac, we am getting the same amount of memory being reserved.  This should not be a concern.  Your Mac will dynamically tap into the hard drive for additional memory if it's beginning to run out. If you have anywhere close to a modern machine, 250 megabytes of RAM usage for an application like this is considered normal and should not be detrimental on a healthy machine. The softphone is merely holding that memory for operating purposes.

I would be concerned when the softphone is maxing out the CPU, is continuously stalling/crashing, or jumps to much, much higher numbers for memory utilization.
