This link covers enable/disable intercom mode. I want to have the intercom I just don't want it to go to speaker automatically. In the auto answer mode someone can connect to the phone and then be listening to the room, even if no one is there. This is a security issue. I assume they could call before anyone came into the room, stay on the line and listen in after people entered the room.

You should be able to disable it yourself, just note that your administrator could enable it again..

I think I just realized that you mean you want the *microphone* to be disabled automatically after intercom, not the speaker.  This may be possible, but would be device specific.  What type of phones do you use and are they supplied by RC?

Hello Douglas,

There is no way to deactivate the intercom auto answer on the phone while using the RingCentral config file. It may be an option, but you should have to register the phone as an "Other" device and then manually configure the phone. This would void the warranty you have from RingCentral.

I'm wondering if what would work for you would be the page feature. The page feature allows you to page a group of 1-25 phones. Paging simply activates the speaker of the phone or phones you are paging so that the User initiating the page can can speak through the speak to anyone who may be at the phone. The phone being paged cannot respond however, as the mic is not activated.

Hopefully the paging option will give you what you need.

Thank you Nate!

@Douglas, there is no way to disable the auto answer on the intercom.  This is the natural function of the intercom feature.  However, if that is a must for your business, then you have the option of making a basic  phone call to the user so that they have to manually answer the call, or paging as Nate suggested.

Thank you for your question and if you need further assistance, please let us know.

But that is the definition what the intercom feature is, to send voice directly to a phone's speaker..
Maybe I am being dense, but how else do you imagine it working besides ringing insead?
