What is the Difference Between User Greeting and Voicemail Greeting?

More often than not, users will mistakenly record their custom Voicemail Greeting under the User Greeting section.

User Greeting is the first message that a caller hears before the call connects to your phone, and it allows the caller to verify that theyve called the correct person. This can be customized, set to default, or turned off completely. Its completely up to the user.

Voicemail Greeting is where you set up your voicemail message for missed calls. Again, this can be customized, set to default, or even turned off.

The reason users often record a user greeting when they think they are recording a voicemail greeting is that from a desk phone (calling into their user admin), once they press 2 for admin then 2 for greetings, the FIRST prompt is for user greeting and it sounds like what they want, so they press 1.  If RingCentral would switch the prompt order to "Press 1 to change your voicemail greeting ... Press 2 to change your user greeting" or change the wording in the current order to "Press 1 to change the greeting the caller hears before the call starts ringing ... Press 2 to change the greeting they hear before leaving voicemail message" then most people would not accidentally record their voicemail greeting as a user greeting.  We get 1-2 help desk calls a month telling us their calls are going straight to voicemail.  This simple change would resolve it.
