Hot Desking



Hot Desking will enable any employee to login a shared phone that adopts users phone settings for Office Premium and Ultimate customers.  This will reduce overall admin cost, improve usage per phone, and support traveling employees when visiting remote sites.

This was just released and will be rolled out to the entire customer base in waves over the next several weeks. :-)

How it works:

In the Admin Portal under Phones & Devices, Purchase a common phone or convert a unassigned phone to a common phone (Polycom VVX310, VVX410, and VVX500 only)

Login to a common phone: 
  1. Press the Login soft key (or dial *90) on a common phone
  2. The user will be prompt to enter the extension number and a pin
  3. After logging into the phone it will reboot to pull the User's settings and presence. 
Logout of a common phone
  1. Press Logout soft key on the phone (or dial *91) to log out
There is a default session timeout of 12 hours, however can be adjusted under Tools > Hot Desk Session Timout.

I'm just starting to use RingCentral for a small 20 person call center. In the office, space is limited so we have a lot of movement between seats. I am curious if there is a way to log in and out of the phones at one desk with multiple extensions so we can track results by person. Also, is it possible to set up an ACD queue?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Assign Multiple Extensions to Single Phone. We have multiple users in one department that we are giving individual extensions to. They only need one phone because their hours don't overlap much. They will often be using their smartphone apps. We would like them to be able to text when they need to, using the one phone for their office, but that only works for the one extension assigned to the phone. Is there some way we can make all their extensions able to text? We want them to be able to share that single phone.
