User Settings: Voicemail to text transcription (speech-to-text)

My previous service converted my voicemails to text in an email - does RC does this and if so how do I do that?

Yeah, have been using Nexiwave for a few weeks. Works quite well. I recommend highly too!

I also want to promote the idea of this feature being added. There have been a few posts from a while back saying that the feature is coming, but it seems like nothing has happened yet. We're switching over from another carrier and this is the one critical feature the old carrier had that RingCentral doesn't. For the moment we're going to use an external provider for this service, but it would be nice if it was integrated into RingCentral. Ideally we'd have the option of either machine transcribed or human transcribed, though if I had to pick only one I'd go with the machine transcribed.

Beta update :  we are only planning to do initial beta testing with customers who have the Enterprise tier of service.

I have been using TalkScribe for approximately 4 years and I wouldn't go a day without it. It's fantastic not listening to voicemails and on the rare occasion I have needed help the service provider was prompt and super friendly.

This is an excellent idea!!
Vonage had it and it was very helpfull in getting an idea of what the message was about.
Talkscribe is expensive.
I would love to help in the beta test.

It's been a long time since I went to B-school, but why would you forfeit easy profit potential to third party addon products? I would assert that many "low end"subscribers like me would opt to pay a reasonable premium for an integrated version of this capability. Why not survey and model revenue at various price levels and evaluate your incremental profit potential.

Under an Administrator login go to "Billing" then "Service Plan". It will be shown at the top.

Have you turned on the functionality under "Messages & Notifications" then "Voicemail Preview" under any given extension? It needs to be set for each extension you want this capability on. Additionally, and most important, it will transcribe the voicemail as it's being left. It is not retroactive. So if you have just turned it on, it will not transcribe already left voice mails.

Talkscribe is worth the price in my opinion. They are human powered and can customize my messages. For example: They will fill out a form based on the information the customer gives. The owner is very helpful and brainstorms custom strategies.

Looks like they now offer this feature, but only on the most expensive plan they offer. Enterprise Edition. It's called Voicemail Preview.

A) free automated w/ imperfections is all i need 

VM to TXT helps me because as with an email or text I can glance quickly at the message and determine where it fits into my business priorities for that day/time period.

This is very important to us. Had it with Vonage. Surprised to not find it here. Getting familiar with RingCentral. Our business is growing and it's helpful to have these options and features.

IMHO, this kind of approach is much too labor intensive and ungainly as well as ending up way expensive for any kind of realistic call volume. I would be looking for seamless integration with my RingCentral automated attendant at a much lower, preferably fixed rate. I really prefer software based translation for confidentiality, speed and accuracy, not to mention the ASP being able to deliver the service at a fraction of the cont on care and feeding of human translators. Current software technology matches or exceeds manual transcription in all areas.

Voice to text transcription is critical to me as I rely heavily on my outlook history for key word based research. Voice messages are useless for this purpose.

I just noticed that this feature is flagged as  IMPLEMENTED. Should have read the whole post before replying. My bad, however this is a high priority, probably a deal breaking issue for me.
  • Is voice transcription available for both RingCentral and OfficeAtHand subscribers?
  • I currently subscribe to an office at hand standard plan. Is transcription available in standard and pro as well as the enterprise plan?
  • Can you clarify the per user cost of this service per plan?
