How do I change the default player for messages on my Mac desktop from iTunes to something else?

I use an Apple Macbook as my primary desktop device and when I go to listen to a message in RingCentral it downloads the message to my desktop and then when I click on the message, iTunes launches as the default player of the message. This is a pain because as soon as the message finishes a song in my song list starts to play. Can I set the default player as something else? Does the message file need to pass to my desktop to play?
