SMS: How do I disable SMS texts for specific users?

I don't want SMS on every line - I have confused people sending text messages to a device that I can't respond with. Thanks

SMS to a specific number can be disabled as long as the Admin on the account is the one requesting the change from Support.  Please create a web case and include the specific number and extension number in your case that you would like SMS disabled and it will be escalated.

Trudy,

I think you are asking if it is simple to disable SMS for a user simply online. No...the administrator cannot do it online. As Kim stated, the administrator has to create a web case and that case will be escalated for the individual's SMS text messages to be disabled.

Why don't they made it an admin accessible feature with an auto-respond message so that we can tell people this is not an active sms account?

So Admin can disable SMS (text message) for someone? To do it, is that easy and simple only account online?

Keep in mind, if you have texting disabled anyone that does text to that number won't know it is not going through to anyone. Just a thought for you because we were going to have it disabled for our company main numbers so people wouldn't text them but decided not to because of this. Now we just have to teach them how to set their outbound caller ID to their number instead of the company number so when they call cell phones people don't reply with a text to it.

I ran into a situation where I needed to enable SMS on an Account and learned...
The process for getting SMS enabled on an account, extension, or phone number the same as getting it disabled. Contact Support.

Disabling doesn't inform the sender that the message won't be received, correct?

correct.  It will not inform them sender.
