Can't accept call fast enough

When a call is forwarded to my cell phone it gives me the option to accept or decline. However, as soon at that message ends the call disconnects to fast for me to hit 1 to accept it. The phone on the other end is still ringing so it is not an issue of number of rings I dot think.
