Assigning the softphone to a PC

I'd like to use the RingCentral PC Softphone application with the speaker and microphone connected to the computer. Is that possible and if so how do you set PC as the current location?

So frustrating that it is so hard to find step instructions how to "associate the softphone in your account with the digital line"  

Sure you say to do it but not how.   

Way to freaking big of a pain when I upgrade a computer to get it working on my new one.  Unassigned old computer is easy but to assign my new computer WTH?  No instructions anywhere.  

I cant find anywhere in the admin to assign my sophtphone  and it will not do it when I log in on the new computer.   

No step by step ANYWHERE  on how to transfer computers with softphone.   Should be automatic if I log on to another computer.  

Wasting so much time..  arg
