I am able to select my forwarded number to RingCentral (assigned to my Auto-Receptionist) as my Outbound Caller ID when I am logged in to my RingCentral account.
The only issue I have is, this number is not visible in my Mobile App, which is strange, because I am able to see it as one of the options on the website when I'm logged in. Just not on the app. It would be nice if I can also select this number through my Mobile App.
This should be allowed as most other voip providers allow it. I can understand not wanting to allow *any* outbound caller ID due to potential fraudulent use, but a verification could be implemented when adding a forwarding number to a user. Currently adding the forwarding number seems to do nothing except show up in the admin panel. RC could simply place a verification call to the number to verify it is owned by the user that is forwarding it and then allow the forwarding number to be used as outbound caller ID.
This would be a big help to customers and partners as it would make for smoother implementation and users could start using RC the moment it is ordered rather than waiting for number port to complete before being able to make outbound calls from their correct phone numbers.
