Network Device Questions

Our office uses Verizon FIOS with the supplied Westell a90-9100em15 modem/router.  We acquired a Asus RT-N66U router to handle the additional connections for our 4 Polycom VVX 410's.

The Westell reports Network Connections for Network (Home/Office), Broadband Connection (Ethernet).  No coax to Westell.  Network (Home/Office) shows Connection type as Bridge.

Ethernet cable from Westel LAN is connected to ASUS WAN.  Asus has a static 192.168.1.2 IP.

Everything seems to work but I"m not sure this is the proper connection.

Please advise.

Actually fixed this myself.  Its possible to "release" the lease the Verizon modem/router has and renew the lease on the new Asus router.   This only works this easily if your Verizon modem/router is fed by Ethernet and not Coax.  Won't work like this if you have FIOS phone and TV bundled as the TV needs the coax connection.

After establishing the Asus router as primary it was easy to turn the Verizon router into a switch so I can use all 8 LAN ports (4 on each device).
