Community: How can I search the Forum by Topic Type?

It would be nice to have the ability to narrow forum/community searches by topic type.

For example: I'd like to search Ideas to see if someone has already had a similar thought. When I perform a general search it's difficult to find items that may be related as all of the possible topic types are included.

Seeing as RingCentral pulls level of interest on service improvements from this community, it helps if we can combine similar requests into one post. The idea being that you could potentially have a greater accuracy of relative, "Me, too!" per idea.

Hello  Michael Harrison,

There are several methods to search and filter. For example if you want to look for existing Ideas related to "RingCentral Meetings", just search for that phrase.  We place a lot of emphasis in make these threads search engine friendly so just search for what sounds natural.  We monitor all topics closely so in the event that someone submits an idea that is already existing, we have the ability to merge the two conversations which combines the "like" count.

In this example, you'll see results like shown below. (Click any of the images below for a larger view)

If you are getting too many results, or want to narrow the search to see what Ideas have been implemented, planned, etc. you can then use the "Advance Search tool shown here.

Then suppose you want to view only "planned" ideas. You can deselect all options except the "Planned" option under "ideas", and click submit.

If you wish to perform a more broad search, from the Community home page you can click the topic type tab ( Ideas in this case) shown below, and then filter using the two drop-downs also shown.

 Click the "All Ideas" drop-down.

Click the "Recent Activity" drop-down.
