Is Layered Ringing Possible?

I'm looking for a way to have the receptionists phone ring twice before ringing the receptionists phone AND another extension for an additional few rings.

Support suggested that I set up a group and somehow forward the call from the receptionist to the created group which will in turn ring it's members. This doesn't really work as it seems the minimum time an incoming call is held for a group before going to voicemail is 1 minute. That's quite a long time.

We had set it up so that the call would first ring on the, "Work" phone which was the 10-digit direct line of the receptionist. There was then a group with both users set to sequential ringing. This seemed work well until recently when the secondary extension was suddenly unable to answer calls. The incoming call would hear ringing even after the secondary extension picked up which would continue until the receptionist voicemail answered.

For now we have it ring both phones but I'd like to figure out a way to accomplish this. It was working brilliantly. Darn!
