Free Video Meeting??

Just received this email:

Dear Customer,

In our ongoing effort to provide you with the communications tools for the future of work, were adding RingCentral Meetings to your account at no extra charge.

Every user on your account can invite up to 4 attendees to HD video meetings with web sharing. You can now hold global conferences, make presentations and connect with remote teams, clients and customers. If you need to include more participants in your meetings, please reach out to your account manager.

To begin exploring your new, powerful video meetings feature, visit the RingCentral Meetings Resource Page.

Thank you for your business.

Dave Berman
President

Problems:
According to the email -> Resources Page link, you can click the Tools link from the RC web system and download it. It's not showing from my account on my Mac after logging into RC.

Second problem, after downloading and installing the Mac client, I get only this message:
This service is not available with your plan. Please call sales for more information.

Botched rollout? Is this really free?

Also, the camera icon is not in my iOS app per the intro video.

OK, here's more info on this fo-pah... Apparently, they have to convert your account in order to get access to the new system which will be happening around Q3 this year!  I think the CEO's email should have been clearer on this process. Less hype and some facts would have us anticipating vs grumbling.

Update from RC Support:

Hi Eric,

Today you may have received an  email from us regarding adding Ringcentral Meetings to your online account.  This was intended for our newly signed up customers who are already on the new platform. For previous accounts, this feature will be available starting 3rd week of June 2014 as we are migrating your accounts to the new platform to have this new feature.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,

Mae Odjinar

I just also received a similar message in my inbox

So took about 15 minutes (actually much less than that) total to
a) download and install the windows version of the software on my desktop
b) set up the user account and start a meeting
c) download android app on a cell phone and join meeting
d) download apple app on iPad and join meeting

I was able to switch hosts between the participants, was also able to select the portion of the screen (windows edition) or the specific app to share. hold individual and group chats etc

Overall this worked very very well. Good job

The glitches -
1) there was a significant time lapse between selecting the share screen and when it activates - almost 2 minutes when computer appeared to have hung up, but was in fact working with no visible screen output - patience pays
2) once you switch hosts, you have no way of regaining control unless the new host switches back to you. This can be a problem if you pass control to a not too tech savvy individual (or malicious person)
3) audio quality was not too great over the web, but better when dialed in

Questions
i) did not see any place to control video sizes e.g switch between which video feed to give prominence (useful if one presenter is showing a product - but not necessarily the "host" - see note (2) above for rationale)
ii) is there a way to have an overriding admin (host) who can control even if host is switched

Great job guys

Tom
