adjust delay when pressing keys in auto-receptionist

I setup a couple of numbers using the auto receptionist that just uses a group to a mailbox since we don't have the service that allows us to use IVR.  Everything technically works where during the recording where I can dial an extension or dial 9 to dial by name.  The issue is that when you do dial the extension or a 9, it takes several seconds before it registers the keypresses.  in many cases, the recording ends before it registers and they don't go to where they need to go.

the delay is due to the system listening for up to a 5 digit extension.  without the multilevel IVR, the auto receptionist is really just an announcement greeting that allows extension dialing during the message.    this is really only useful for when you might say "if you know the parties extension you are trying reach you may dial it at any time", otherwise, i agree it's a bit long.

before I switched to multi level IVR, i had virtual users setup as my auto attendant, they would go straight to voicemail, which was my "greeting"... i recorded the greeting 2 or three times, so it would appear to "repeat", if no option (extension) was selected they were sent to a voicemail...   it was a rigged setup for sure, but it works...

you might try recording a few seconds of silence at the end of your greeting.

for the record, it was rigged, but it worked... until i needed more than 9 options,  asking callers to press 10 was simply not an option.

that makes sense. repeating the recording is a brilliant idea, thank you. I'll do that.

FYI, Instead of actually speaking the message twice, i downloaded a freeware audio editing software (Audacity) and just copied and pasted...  this is very useful as my options sometimes change.. all i have to do is modify the recordings instead of rerecording the entire thing...  as much as our stuff changes, it was well worth the 7.8 seconds it took to download and install, haha

minimal audio engineering skills required.
