Anyone transition from 8x8 to RingCentral? Looking for feedback and phone compatibility

I have been a long-time 8x8 customer, but recently started thinking about alternatives. RingCentral has some nice features, nice apps for mobile devices and my Mac (using the beta OSX app) and a lower price than 8x8.

One immediate benefit was that I was able to use an old Polycom phone that was sitting in a box because 8x8 couldn't / wouldn't provision a device they didn't sell me. RingCentral had perfectly clear instructions online and this phone was working within a few minutes of setting up my RingCentral account.

The question is whether I can use the Polycom phones that were originally purchased from and provisioned by 8x8? Anyone tried this?

More generally, if you've moved from 8x8 to RingCentral, what do you think? Are you happy with the change? What do you like more/less about each vendor? What did you do with your old 8x8 phones?

Hi Bob, I personally like the flexibility that Ring Central allows in using unlocked IP phones.  they have auto provisioning for both the Cisco and Polycom models that support call pickup, intercom and Presence features.  You could mix and match phones to meet the need so that is nice.

The cost model is good,  3 tiers, all included,  Annual payment discounts and other things.

Like any VOIP system, your network needs to be designed correctly.  Once you get over a few phones there are some things you should look at to make sure it is designed properly.

I have been installing and supporting Ring central for years as a re seller and offer this service to most of my customers that have a need.

Not sure if you would need assistance in configuring your system but, if you do, contact me directly and I could assist.

Thank you

Thanks Chuck,

My system is really just a couple of lines so it's pretty simple. Plus I've had 8x8 for several years and that's pretty similar. Before 8x8 I ran my own Asterisk server for fun.

I know a lot of the basics, but I will have random questions about RingCentral so I'll reach out to you directly. I also recommend systems to my clients, about half a dozen are using 8x8 now and they are much larger companies than I am.

Great, let me know how I could help.  Are you an IT service provider or consultant?

I am a reseller of RC for the past 4 years and have had a positive experience
