i agree - the lack of unique codes was a problem when we were using the conference line to interview candidates for a position.  one meeting ran over and the next candidate dialed into the same "room."  totally embarrassing.

There is a way to schedule a conference with a different ID if you use the RC Meeting app instead. After you click the Schedule Meeting button and set the date & time, choose "Screen Share Meeting as the Meeting Type.  When you click Schedule it will populate your Outlook email with the meeting details. If you wish you can delete the URL for the web meeting but just leave the dial-in information.

we do primarily audio conferencing.  is there any sort of combination that we can use lock the conference down once everyone has arrived?

turns out there is a way to "secure" the audio conference line, so that no further participants are allowed.  you dial  *#7   yay!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Conference Calling: Enhance Security. The topic here is twofold.  One being that the host code and participant codes do not function as a separation of duty like they should.  For example everyone can join the call as a participant without a host present.  This should not be the case.

Second and more importantly is the security of the host and participant codes.  I am sure I use this service as most people do and that is for recurring meetings that require a conference bridge in addition to one offs.  The problem is that as people come and go from companies and 3rd parties are given dial in for specific meetings there is nothing to prevent them from accessing the same bridge at a later time.  There needs to be rolling codes or the ability to auto generate a new code as needed.  This I feel is a huge fundamental security flaw in the service. If this feature is currently being implemented what is the scheduled release date?  We hope to continue to use RC moving forward but these security implementations will drive that decision.

We are new RC customer and I totally agree with other's feedback on this email thread to have the ability to change the participate code with the added security measure to add a password. This is something that I would of expected to be in place by RC. Hope the product management team at RC understand security is probably once of the most important operational task for companies. I have raised this as urgent request with my RC account manager and to see the fix very soon.

It is disappointing that this issue was raised two years ago and there is still no practical solution provided by RingCentral.  As an example, if I give out my participant code to employees for a regular periodic meeting, and one employee leaves the company, he/she can then use the same code to join the same meeting.  There is no mechanism to require a password nor to change my participant code.  This is a security issue.

We are running into this too.  We've mostly used RC Meetings so are just finding that through actual conferencing there is a huge security loophole in that the Participant id always stays the same and that we can't schedule the conferences like with RC Meetings.  Yikes!
