Old Softphone app vs new Desktop for Windows app

I just installed the new RingCentral Desktop for Windows app. Have been using the old Softphone app for years and was able to highlight a phone number in my proprietary software, right-click on it, then click copy, then press my hot key, then my desktop phone dialed out the number. Now, the new app wants me to enter the phone number instead of it dialing out automatically. Obviously I can paste it into the field, but it sure would be nice to have it work the old way. Anyone know of a way to get this to work?

When are they going to bring back the feature then enable RingCentral to be set as the windows default dialer? This is how we initiated call from our CMS program which then also started a timer with a window to type in phone notes.

I talked yesterday with a Tier2 support person who affirmed for me that there is a support ticket in place to get this reinstated. She said that they are probably going to include the feature again in the future, but there is no time frame. So to sum up: Probably. But who knows when!

And there you have it, an update on this issue.

RC support reinstalled the old version for me so I'm happy!

Never fear, there actually is a way to do this in the new app also! Just select the number you want to dial and hit F6 - it will bring up the RingCentral app with that number prepopulated, and all you have to press is Dial.
