Why is the Ring Out option not available half the time? Does anybody know?

Why can I not make phone calls from my Ring Central virtual phone? It is costing me a fortune to have to use my personal phone system to make long distance calls! Meanwhile, all the Ring Cental minutes that have been paid for go unused because half the time the "Ring Out" function is NOT available. (An onscreen notice tries to suggest there is no internet connection which is absurd.) Then it might work, then not. There's no detectable pattern. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hi AARIKA WELLS,

I have not seen any other reports of Ring Out not working. This article may help. Setting the Softphone to Use RingOut

NOTE:  The default dial setting is Softphone.  Th is option will be greyed out unless you have a DigitalLine.

Mike, thanks for getting back to me. I don't have a DigitalLine (not even sure what that means) -- only the soft phone that connects to my home phone number when I dial out. (Turns out with satellite I cannot use a dedicated phone hooked up to Ring Central. I HAVE TRIED!!!) To dial out I need to click on "Ring Out." This engages my home phone -- and I can use it to complete the call. But the problem is: the Ring Out option is often not an option! (Why, I have no idea.) But consequently, I am spending my personal funds to make business calls from my home phone, calls for which I am not reimbursed and that should be covered by the Ring Central contract. But without a Ring Out option, I cannot make the calls. PLEASE HELP!!!!

If you don't have a digital line, you may want to add one. This page explains what a digital line is:  DigitalLine Overview

And this page explains how to purchase a digital line.  Purchasing an IP Phone or DigitalLine from the Online Account

However as far as the Ring Out option not working there may be something else going on.  We did test it from our end and it seems to be working ok.  When you attempt to use the Ring Out function, are you using the Mobile App, Desktop Sofphone etc?
