I want to save Ringcentral Desktop fax as PDF, but cannot seem to do it with Windows 8 like I could with Windows 7. Any workarounds?

I cannot save a PDF of a fax from the Desktop App because the viewer in Windows 8 says the file is already in use by another application! I simply want to save the fax to a destination, but cannot seem to do it with Windows 8 like I could with Windows 7. Any workarounds?

What method are you using to open, view and save the fax?

If you log into your account through the website and go to Messages > Inbox and view/open the fax it should open in your web browser. Chrome and Firefox both have a small icon at the top/right of the browser that looks like this:

When you click this button you'll see a "save page as.." option which should allow you to save the page as a pdf.

You should also be able to open and save the file using the RC Desktop application. It should automatically open the default pdf reader on your computer.

If this does not help, please reply back with details and explain where you are getting stuck.

I can save the fax using the website, but using the desktop app causes it to open in a weird PDF viewer that I believe comes with Windows 8. I cannot find any way to use that viewer to save a fax. The desktop app is very convenient to see what is pending and what is new, etc., but I need to be able to save from it when I open a fax from that app. I think it is the viewer in Windows 8. I really have disliked everything about Windows 8 and here is one more to add to the list. I cannot seem to find where the default PDF viewer can be changed. I think that would solve the problem, if it opened in Adobe Reader instead of this crazy window I get.

I discovered that I did not have Adobe Reader installed! I installed it and it works just fine. Again, something about the windows 8 PDF viewer that does not allow you to save a file.
