Is there a phone that would show that another user is on a call?

I would like to know when another user in my office is on a call. The are times when I don't want to send a caller to VM. If I could see that the other user was on a call I would ask if they wanted me to take a message or be put through to VM.

Hi Russ, you need a phone that supports presence.  The Ciscp SPA series is great for this.

How many users would you want to monitor?

Hi Russ, then I would suggest the SPA508G.  This has 8 buttons that are configurable but remember 2 are used for actual calling on the phone so that would leave you 6 and if you use 4 up then 2 spares.

If you want a nicer phone with color screen and blue tooth support then the 525g2 is the one.  it is a 5 line phone so 2 ill be used and then 3 would be free.

This may work for you but I like to give options

I am currently using SPA 504G phones. I might be able to make it work. Is that easy to configure?

  1. Hi Russ, yes, the 504 will work but you will only have 2 buttons to use for monitoring of another phone.  Of the 4 total buttons on this phone the first 2 are used for lines and then you have 2 free.
