Fax: Can the HP M630Z MFP fax directly using RingCentral?

We have pruchased a HP Laserjet 630Z (high end unit) and it does have three options, analog fax/network fax and Internet faxing abilities.. The manual states
  1. In the Internet Fax Service Settings area, enter the information from your service provider in the Internet Fax Provider Domain and the T37 Prefix fields.

  2. Enter the Default Fax Account E-mail Address . If you want to use the email address for the user who is signed in to the product, select the appropriate box.

  3. Select a File Format .

  4. Choose whether to enable the If available, use the signed in users e-mail address as the Fax Account address option.

  5. If you are using a service in North America, choose whether to enable the Auto complete to North American Numbering Plan (NANP) format using area code option. If selected, enter the area code in the field provided.

  6. Click Apply to save the settings.

Can we use the printer to directly fax from it without needing to using our PC's.. that would be great.. any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Chuck. We actually use T.38, but we do not have the ability for an external device log in and send over T.38 on our behalf as you have described. We do however have the ability to use standard faxes on our system via an ATA device that we sell. This will convert your POTS interface to SIP to communicate to our servers.

That being said if you rely heavily on faxes and require consistency and stability fax over T.38 is not your answer. Due to the nature of T.38 it requires a far more stable signal on the other end to maintain connectivity end to end. It results in quite few more failed faxes then a normal telephone line which is certainly more forgiving. I just wanted to give you fair warning before you made the jump as there you are definitely giving up a large chunk of reliability for convenience. Hope this helps.
