with softphone I could scan a page and it automatically put it in the fax. Now it's going to be discontinued

with Ring central softphone that is being discontinued, I could open the controller, hit scan a page and it automatically put it in the fax, looks like the windows software makes you scan a page , then save it to the computer and then attach, which is another step I don't like . Am I correct?

You are correct.
With the new version you have to perform the following steps.

Scan to Fax
Step 1:Scan document and save to computer.
Step 2:Launch RingCentral for Desktop App.
Step 3:Click  FaxOut.
Step 4:Enter the Recipient's fax number.
Step 5:Attach the file to be faxed.
Step 6:Click  Send.

The page has a good comparison of all the features.
