Why are shared lines only available on Polycom phones?

I find it odd that the shared line feature is only available on Polycom phones.

Other voip providers seem to be able to supply traditional 2/4/6 line service resembling physical pbx systems, so why can't RC?

If the infrastructure is the limitation, perhaps there should be a point at which RC looks at the bulk of feature requests that have been made and there is a realization that some features need revamping.  If RC would take a step back and fix the structure then many of these requests would be solved.

Honestly, if RC could create a true virtual pbx system they would rock.  Their service is generally great and they could dominate the field if they would get up to speed with a realistic look at business needs.

This post is absolutely on the money.  I've started looking at other vendors due to basic issues like this.

Hello Larry and Travis,

The RingCentral infrastructure does support shared lines, but there are limitations on certain phones.  We periodically add new phones to the mix and remove obsolete phones. At this time we the only supported phones we offer are the Polycom models below.  It's a good idea to call our sales team or your account manager if you have questions on specific features that you may need so that they can advise you on the best phone and plan to meet your needs.

Which RingCentral service supports Shared Lines (BLA) feature?
This feature is only available to all RingCentral  Office Edition in US and Canada.

What desk phone models support Shared Lines feature?
Only Polycom desk phones: 321, 335, 550, 650HD, VVX-310, VVX-410, VVX-500
