Hello,

I would only like to use my carriers plan because the Wifi lags too much. Is there a way to do this without having to switch in the middle of the call and loose whom I'm talking to?

Make sure your data is on and you have a 3g /4g signal, then, minimize the RC app and turn off WiFi on the phone itself instead of trying to disable it from the mobile app. Or if you leave or walk away from the WiFi signal to where it's too weak, the 3g/4g will take over.

If you are using the latest version of the mobile app, it will automatically switch from wifi to data and your call should continue without you having to hang up, or manually change any settings as long as you have the 3g/4g setting turned on.

I am using the latest version of Ring Central for Android but unfortunately I have yet to experience any improvement. I've made at least half a dozen phone calls and the latency persists unless I switch to my carrier in the middle of the call; which drops the call.

I've looked over the settings many times and there's no option to disable WiFi and use my carrier as the primary source to make my calls.

Any other suggestions?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Mobile App: Does it use cell phone minutes?. When ringing out of the softphone app to your cell phone, are you now using your cell phone minutes or minutes with RingCentral?

Hi Mike, is there any plan to be able to use ringout on an iPhone to receive calls through the app still and not have to forward to your mobile number? I would like to use my mobile minutes to get rid of any lag but want to be able to keep the function of determining if its a business call or personal call like I do when it comes through the app. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Since I have free voice minutes (and generally a very good signal), I believe I would prefer to use voice instead of data.  Somewhere I heard someone say you lose features if you don't enable VOIP on the iPhone app?  If so, what features would I lose if I choose to always use voice (I believe this would be the All Use Cellular Voice (RingOut)?  What if I chose "Voip only in Wi-Fi"?

Thank you!

This topic will explain in more detail.   Overview of VoIP Calling on the RingCentral mobile app

On the RingCentral mobile app  version 8.2 and up, you can enable or disable Incoming VoIP Calling by toggling the switch for  Data (VoIP) Calling. When you DISABLE Data (Voip) Calling, it disables both your Inbound and Outboud VoIP Calling.

So if you have VoIP calling turned off, you would have to forward calls to the cell phone number. You won't have access to any of the functionality in the mobile app if you receive the call on the phone's native dialer.

Jamie, If you use RingOut in the mobile app it will connect outside the mobile app to use your cellular plan. In that case you will not retain any of the mobile app's functionality.

I was searching for some info about data usage some time ago, and also found one more article. You can look through it:
