"RingCentral Internet Fax" printer not showing up in list of printers

Depending on the application you are trying to Print to Fax from, you will get a screen similar to the image below. In your printer list, you should see "RingCentral Internet Fax" as one of the printer options.  If you do not see this, you can manually install the printer by following the steps below.

Also, for newer version of RingCentral Desktop 9.x and later jump to the Official Response below for related instructions.

Step 1:Access  Control Panel and select  View devices and printers
(The following instructions are for Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Exact steps may vary slightly on Windows 8)

NOTE:  For Windows 7, a slight difference will be noticed such as no option for "Adjust commonly used mobility settings"
Step 2:Click  Add Printer.

Step 3: Add Printer window will open and select the radio button for  Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.

For Windows 7:
Select on " Add a local printer"

Step 4:Select  Use an existing port and select  NUL (Local Port).

Step 5:Click  Next.

Step 6: Install the printer driver window will open and click on  Have Disk.

Step 7:From  Install From Disk window click  Browse button and click on  Computer and select  Local Disk (C:).

Step 8:On  Local Disk (C:), click on  Program Files (x86).

Step 9:Select the  RingCentral folder.

Step 10:Click on  RingCentral Internet Fax.

Step 11:Select the  prndrv folder.

Step 12:Select the  RCPrnDrvSFD file then click  Open.

Step 13:You will return to the  Install From Disk window and hit the  OK button.

Step 14:
You'll see now the  RingCentral Internet Fax under the available  Printers and just click  Next to continue.

Step 15:You'll be ask to enter the  Printer Name and then hit  Next button again.

Step 16:Under  Printer Sharing you'll have an option if you want to share the printer within the network. Just select which do you prefer and hit  Next button.

Step 17:
You'll see now the confirmation that the  RingCentral Internet Fax printer was successfully installed just hit  Finish button to complete the process.

Step 18:
You'll see now the  RingCentral Internet Fax under your  Device and Printers.

IMPORTANT:  Right click on RingCentral Internet Fax and set it as Default Printer

You have now installed the RingCentral Internet Fax on your computer.

The instructions on this KB article show you how to stop prompts for future updates. However... I would recommend keeping an eye out for our next push. Most users will be prompted for our 9.x release over the next few weeks.  If the latest version still doesn't install the print driver, then I recommend opening a case as our latest release will have a few new features including MMS messaging.  If you are certain you want to stay on the older version follow the steps here:

The latest versions of RingCentral desktop have changed a bit. Try going to Settings > Messaging and look for the option below.  If it's not installed, there should be a small switch in the area of the arrow, that you can turn on.  Let us know if this works.

Yes,  It normally installs itself when you install the RC Desktop software but if for some reason it doesn't you can manually do this. One exception is that the Print to Fax is not yet available for Macs though.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Faxing straight from the printer option disapeared.. I used to fax a document like word or pdf straight from clicking on the print option. I used to apper a printer by the name of " ring central". So after cliking that the document was going directly to the desktop application. It disappear????. The agent on the chat window said that new version of the application does not come with this. THIS WAS THE BEST FEATURE THAT THE APPLICATION HAD!!! No i have to do many steps to send a fax including saving it then editing, drag it to the application and what is worse it make me save the file on a folder even if I dont need to. THIS IS MUCH LESS CONVVINIENT!!!

Hi Karen. I did some research for you and discovered that you cannot currently use the automatic printing of faxes feature with Apple macOS. I certainly can understand wanting to use this as I am a Mac user myself!

If this feature is important to the way you want to use your RingCentral account, I highly recommend making an idea post on this site. If other RingCentral users also like this idea, they can vote on it. This is where many new features that come out for our services can start out.

There's a great walk-through of how to create an idea post here. Thanks for bringing it up, I love the idea!

I've put off updating because I've had this very issue in the past and it  was a bugger to fix then. But I must have reached a certain point in the upgrade cycle where RingCentral updated right when I was trying to send a fax.

Now I don't have RingCentral Fax in my list of printers list anymore.

I've tried everything on this list as well as completely uninstalling, going through the registry to eliminate any references, and re-starting several times.

I then re-install, and RingCentral works just as it should with the exception of no RingCentral Fax option in my printers list.

When I use ctrl + F1 and choose "Install Print Driver", I get a pop-up DOS window for about 3 seconds and then it closes without any other indication that anything happened.

Hi Randal. Could you try completing the uninstall process that is shown in the comment by Kim on this community topic: Uninstall the RingCentral for Windows application and remove the AppData folder contents. She shows how to uninstall as well as manually remove some files used by the RingCentral for Desktop application that can cause some issues like this. Let us know how it goes.

I updated RingCentral on Windows 10 to version 9.1.1.27091. I was able to print to the RingCentral fax printer just prior to the update. After the update, the fax printer no longer existed. I attempted the steps given in the attached link but they did not apply. if you have a more technical issue or query regarding printer please go further   Nipson Printers Support  and get the help.

Hi Gaming Toolkit,

That is a very old version of the RingCentral Phone for Windows...currently we are on version 10.0 and rolling out 10.1 soon. Have you tried upgrading to the most recent version?
