cicso IP SPA514G phone - mute button blinking red

the mute button blinks red when i'm not using the phone and also if i try to use the phone it will all of a sudden blink red and either i cannot hear what the person on the other end is saying or vice versa
please help =)

When is the last time you power-cycled the phone?  What is the Serial Number of the device in question?

1) Does the phone also do this when plugged into a different location?
2) This device was received today, correct? It's a new phone? Date Added:  04/27/2015 
3) Are you also using a softphone desktop app along with the Hardphone?

Also, I also reset the local port on the back end, please reboot the phone after 30 seconds.

1) this is the only location i have to plug it in.  my old internet phone worked in this location with no issues
2)yes new phone - received 4/27
3)i'm not sure hwat you mean.  i did set up call forwarding via the ring central app to my iPhone - my line quality is still bad via the forwarding.

Hi Joe, for question number 3, Kim is asking if you've downloaded and installed the softphone which is now called RC Desktop. We are trying to figure out if the problem is the phone or something in the network.  If you get poor quality using the softphone then we need to take a closer look at the network.
