Should "Register as Default Dialing and Fax Application" function the same as Legacy option?

Should the new softphone's "Register as Default Dialing and Fax Application" function the same as Legacy's "Make Softphone the default phone dialing application"? I can't seem to get it work as it once did. Is it possible not doing a clean uninstall of the legacy softphone could some how be interfering with this functionality?

Michael,  

Correct, this should be the same function. Do you still have the old legacy softphone installed on your PC?  If so please uninstall completely.  

Also,  what are you using it for (which program)? Are you using it for click-to-dial?
