Viewing faxes in the browser automatically plays other voicemail messages.

I can view both voicemail messages and inbound faxes individually in my mailbox; however when I attempt to view the faxes within my browser it will automatically begin playing a voicemail message. So I will be reading a fax I've received, and a voicemail will begin playing in the background. Is there a way to fix this so I only hear voicemails when I hover my mouse over the messages?

Hi  Dmitriy Pales

I've never heard of, or seen this before. Can you tell us what OS, browser etc, you are using?  I am wondering if there is some sort of browser addon (such as an accelerator, that prefetches links on a page for faster browser.  The voice mails should never start playing automatically.  In whatever browser you are using can you look at the plugins & extensions to see if there's anything that might do this?

Thanks for your reply Mike. The OS is Windows 8, we're using Google Chrome. This is a list of all plugins currently enabled: Chrome PDF Viewer, Widevine Content Decryption Module, Native Client, Adobe Flash Player, and Chrome Remote Desktop Viewer.

This problem only occurs in Chrome; we've used Firefox without having this issue.

We disabled Widevine CDM and it seems to have fixed it! Thanks for the help.

You're welcome.  Website technology is constantly changing and many websites are starting to incorporate HTML5 code.  If you stumble across another website that does not correctly play media, you may have to toggle it back on for that particular site.

Unfortunately the problem started again today and disabling Widevine CDM did not fix it this time. In addition to the plugins listed above, the browser is using the following extensions: Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Webroot Password Manager. Do you think a different plugin or extension could be the culprit? It seems to only happen when reading a fax message that is adjacent to a voicemail message.

No, It's pretty unlikely that those pluggins are related. Can you please use this link to  Open a Case and in your comments include your OS version, browser version, the phone number(s) this is occurring on, and if possible a screenshot and/or time/date of a message that this is happening on.

Can you try disabling the Widevine CDM, and then test it again?  Let us know what happens.

Also, does this only occur in Chrome, or other browsers?
