Deskphone: Wireless Phone Options

Have a conference room with no network or phone connections in it.  Table sits 10 people.  Desire a wireless device for conference calls for all ten people to hear the single conversation out of the phone device.  Any suggestions and/or experience with wireless RC phones?

Wireless is generally not recommended for VOIP. You should do a cable run to the room.

Check Plantronics or Jabra. They are the best high quality options.

What you could do is installing a Jabra USB/Bluetooth speaker/mic attached to a basic laptop with WiFi... Or what about using one of those Cisco WiFi phones... (sorry if you do not have WiFi we are screw it up).

We have this inexpensive Jabra and works really well http://goo.gl/DtcNVp You can also paired it by Bluetooth with the computer running the RC app if you can move the computer to that room.

That's a cool option (Jabra).  I'll try it on my network and see what happens.

Thanks Claudio,

Port #2 works just fine if you manually provision it, the automatic provision script just does #1.

I'm just looking for default/preferred settings for any ATA to help me diagnose some issues.

Thanks Claudio,

I don't want to speak for Ringcentral here:  I personally have 2 ATA's handling 4 RC telephone lines hooked up to a 12-line legacy PBX.  While it works, RC really can't support it.  That's why I'm asking the questions here.

From a technical perspective, to provision line #2, the parameters need to look identical to line #1 with the exception of Display Name, UserID, Password, and AuthCode.  Those are set  per line.

In most ATAs, line 1 is setup for Voice, Line 2 for fax.  As long as the parameters are set properly, the 2 lines will work just fine for voice.

The only supported WiFi phone is the Cisco 525G2, but Michael is correct - WiFi phones are not recommended.

Do you know why WiFi is not recommended, considering the actual speeds of the WiFi connections and also considering (According to RC) that the Digital Line only uses 90kbps ?
If the trend is go wireless... why VoIP is left behind ?

Because VOIP is not like normal data which can be broken into random packets and sent across the network and reassembled at the end point. VOIP Is a stream and requires a very high end level of transmission, requires prioritization of packets and sequence. All of this is possible with a high end configuration but even then suffers quality issues.
