How do I Blind Transfer to voicemail on ATA?

Can you please add the option of blind transfer to the SPA122 ATA to allow calls to go directly to voicemail.

Can you enable a feature for the SPAs 122 to support transferring calls directly to an extensions voicemail by dialing [*] and the extension number.

One your first question; unless I'm missing something, if you do not have any numbers in your call handling, then the calls should ring to the VM.

I wanted to test my answer to your second question be responding.  I was able to transfer a caller to the VM of an ATA by doing the following:
Dialed ##
then entered extension number
then entered *

And it worked.  So try it and see if you get the same results.

Now, with respect to an ATA device doing a VM Xfer, the above FKey codes do not work - and I don't know why.  It doesn't work from a POTS phone either.  I even went a step further and tried doing a VM Xfer on several other hosted platforms (i.e., 8x8, Vonage, ANPI, Grasshopper), both with an ATA and POTS phone, and can't do it with them either.  Sounds like it may be a limitation of SIP trunking with analog devices.  Let's see if someone, a whole lot smarter than me, can chime in with an solution.

In the meantime, I can offer one suggestion.  Although not perfect, it may give you a temporary solution to use.  Lets say your extensions are 201, 202, 203, etc.  (the device you are using doesn't matter).  You can create a VM only extension (at no additional cost) of 401, 402, 403, etc.  Meaning, where 201 rings your phone, allowing you to answer the call, 401 has nothing programmed in Call Handling and therefore goes straight VM.  In the Messages & Notifications tab of 401, program the Message Recipient to be 201.

Tell me what you think<?>

Here is what we had to do for this to work. Contrary to the note above, other hosted platforms supported this which is why we kept trying and trying until we got this working on the RC platform.

Login to the SPA config page and change/verify the following settings for Voice, Line 1 and Provisioning

  1. DTMF Process INFO Verify that its YES (Default)

  2. DTMF Process AVT Verify that its YES (Default)

  3. DTMF Tx Method Change to Auto (Change from default value AVT)

  4. DTMF Tx Mode Change to Normal (Change from default value Strict)

  5. Blind Attn-Xfer Enable: Change to YES (Change from default value no)

Disable Provisioning settings so the settings are not reset by RCs servers

  1. Provision Enable:   Change to No (Change from default value Yes)

To transfer straight to voicemail from the SPA device

  • Answer the call

  • Press Flash and wait for a new dial tone

  • Press *0 Extension # and hang up right away

  • Caller is transferred directly to the extension voicemail

BTW, I did the test from a Polycom RC phone, a Cisco RC phone and a POTS line.  All three test past muster.  Or is it Mustard?

Let me clarify what I am asking for. We need  the ability to transfer directly in to voicemail using the ATA, At this time we are unable to transfer using ##, *0, extension number to get a caller directly to our users voicemail without ringing the user extension.

OK, my bust.  The answers I gave you were for VM Xfer from a digital phone to a ATA.  Just to clarify, I'm posting the FKey codes below:
