How can we use a number on whatsapp?

I'm not expert on Whatsapp but as far I know, that service only works with true cell phone numbers.

Thanks for your reply. Earlier I was using the same number with Vonage (Vocalocity) and was able to use Whatsapp.. It is not being verified since we have moved from vonage to Ringcentral

Hi Akshay, You'll probably want to check with Whatsapp. I tested their app and it appears to only work with actual cell numbers, as Claudio stated above. I'm sure this is probably by design as it depends on wifi and/or data network to function.

Thanks for reply Mike.
Though I will check with whatsapp too. However as I just stated that a couple of months before we used to confirm this by the verification call that comes from whatsapp. Now they say that they can't call my number. Earlier we were using sip from Vonage.

When entering an RC number it gives the error "not a valid mobile number". You'll definitely want to check with Whatsapp on this. It's hard to say how they are verifying this and why a vonage number might work.
