Voicemail Messages with 0 Byte Audio Attachments

We provide VoiceMail transcription services for a number of RingCentral customers. We currently transcribe about 3,500 messages per month.

Recently we've been receiving a number of messages with a zero byte length recording which of course we can't do anything with. We are currently receiving 3 to 10 such messages per day.

Since we don't have a RingCentral account, we can't contact their support directly. Although we've encouraged our customers to contact RC directly as a matter of good customer service we would like to help our mutual customers. We also have additional information and resources that a typical customer might not have access to.

If anybody else is experiencing this issue, we encourage you to report the problem as it is not an isolated issue. If anybody has a contact at RingCentral that would be willing to speak with us. Please send them our way.

Hello  Scribbious,

We'll do our best to help you out here.  Can your provide more details on the process? Just curios how the process works and you receive the files.  I made this a private message so it's not visible to the rest of the community in case you need to reply with any phone numbers.

Thanks Mike,

The process is very simple. Your customer(s) simply enter an email address provided by us in their RingCentral portal.

Example: Voicemail left at 314-436-9958 is emailed to meyerkordlaw.gsm@v2t.us.

That email (with audio attached) is received by us and transcribed (by humans) then emailed to the customer.

The customer above has received 3 or 4 messages with 0 byte .mp3 attachments today and a few with normal audio attached which we've been able to process normally.

If I can get a contact there at RC who can diagnose the issue, I can provide additional information and actual examples of the raw inbound emails but would rather not do it via the forum.

Thanks,

John

Unless I can get a direct contact, I've found it to be an inefficient use of time to try to communicate via a general community mailbox.

I'll see what I can do as we receive more.
We clean them up (remove the attachment) to send notification to our customers but I'll copy/save some for you.

They will likely come directly from the server at l1@line1com.com.

OK. sounds like a plan. Go ahead and reply here after you send the email in case they go into my junk folder, then I can go look for them.
