RingOut from PC instead of Direct Dial

I'm trying to use my headset with my desktop to make calls.  Every time I dial a number to ring out all it does is call my mobile phone FROM that number.  I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.  Help!

Do you have RingCentral Desktop installed on more than one PC?

RingOut is designed to ring another number.   If you need to use your headset, and you have the software installed on more than one PC, you'll need to log into your account and deauthorize it from the PC it's associated with. Then log back in on the desired computer (turn off Ringout) and dial again.

Hi Mike!

Nope, I only use it from my personal computer and my phone so there shouldn't be an issue with it installed on another PC.

I'm also getting a strange message from the wireless company when I try to RingOut from my mobile phone now.  It's saying that long distance and international calling isn't supported.  It was working just fine last week, so I'm not sure what's going on. (My phone works just fine calling whoever I want when I dial from my own number so I know that it's not my calling plan)

Is it an Android?  Log out of the app, then log back in, and it should fix the problem with it giving you the message about international calling.

Since you only have the RC Desktop on one computer, all you need to do is turn off the RingOut feature.  Click Settings > Calling, and then choose Direct Dial instead of RingOut.

The advice for the mobile app worked like a charm!  Thank you!

On the desktop I don't have an option for Direct Dial.  The RingOut box is checked in blue, but that's all I have.  Am I supposed to have a landline to be able to use Direct Dial?

No, you don't need a landline.  At the bottom of the RC Desktop application, you'll see a small icon that looks like a gear wheel, which is the settings button. After you click it, you should see the screen below.  If you don't see this can you provide a screenshot?

Thanks.  It looks like you are probably logging in with the main number + extension.  You'll have to log in with a direct number other-wise you'll only have the RingOut option available to dial out.
