I'm trying to forward calls from one internal extension to another. Neither of these extensions are attached to a digital line. Is this possible? If not, then why? It seems to be a very basic feature that should be available.
Most of our staff aren't tied to DL's. They use smartphones with their extension number.
So when one of the staff is on vacation, their calls need to be forwarded to another employee's extension. Currently I've been just inputting the cell number of person the calls need to be forwarded to. But this isn't ideal because it circumvents the call routing that the "destination" extension already has in place.
I've tried forwarding (in call handling and forwarding) using our main line, *, then the extension, but that generates the error "Forwarding phone number cannot be the same as your account number or any additional numbers. Please go to Call Handling and Forwarding and remove the number"......
