When calls come in, I can use my headset. When I make calls out, I cannot. Why is this?

Hi Amy,  There could be several things going on here, but we'll need you to provide more details.  What sort of headset are you referring to?  Is this something connected to a deskphone?  Something you are using with the RingCentral Desktop such as a USB headset, or something on a phone or tablet?

Hi Mike,
I am using a USB headset with the RingCental desktop. I do not have a desktop phone. I use my cell phone. So when I am receiving calls, my cell phone rings and the RG Desktop rings at the same time, but I don't answer my cell phone, the call go to the RG desktop using my headset. Now If I reverse the situation, I make a call out of RG desktop, it calls my cell phone to call out the number i am trying to reach, then the conversation has to be done on my cell phone, because the headset cannot pick up the conversation.  Its really confusing! Am I doing something wrong???

Thank you for helping me!
Amy

Take a look at your RingOut settings.  From the RingCentral Desktop app, click the small gear wheel icon. Go to the Calling screen and make sure the Direct Dial button is selected.

This page has more info on setting up the RingOut option:  Setting the RingCentral Desktop App to Use RingOut

Amy,  I"m moving this to a related topic. You'll need to have your own DL, otherwise the Direct Dial option won't be available.
