Android App Version 7.4.3.1.21 running on AOSP 12.1 (Lollipop 5.1.1)
If you open RC and go to any message/SMS thread and then use the Home button to leave the RC app, you will not get a notification in the Notification Area at the top of the screen. I get a new message alert sound but no "envelope" icon.
The only way to start receiving the "envelope" notification is to go back to RC and exit to a higher level or switch to another feature area.
This is not how Android SMS apps behave. The notification is only suppressed if the SMS window is "on top". If I am in the Android SMS app, in a conversation, and then hit the Home button - when a new SMS message comes in, a pop up notification as well as a notification area icon appear.
I miss RC messages all the time, because if I don't have my phone on my person when the message arrives (or have it in SILENT mode) there is no visual indication that I have a new RC message/SMS. The only way to know you have a new message, as it is currently implemented, is to open the RC app and look for the blue "new message" highlights in the list.
