Cannot attach documents. I get an error message saying I must close another open softphone.

Can you please provide more details and explain what you are trying to do? 

Are you trying to attache a document to the fax application? 

Did you by any chance have the old Legacy softphone installed before installing the new RingCentral Desktop app?  If so, make sure all instances of the old version are removed from the computer.
