Is it possible to receive calls on iPhone directly through the app if the app is NOT open?

I'm wondering if it is possible to receive calls through the iPhone app  without having to have the app open. I've noticed that calls will ring though the app if it is open (obviously), but would prefer for the app to ring rather than the call being forwarded to my mobile number.

The main reason I don't want it forwarded to my cell is so voicemails will still be taken through the app and not on my personal inbox.

I have this same question. I carry a separate phone, but would like to go back to one phone. The only reason they are separate is that I want the phone to ring differently so I can tell if it is a business call or personal call.

If using the App, the calls will open and be answereed inside the App.  This looks differently (blue bar at the top when using RingCentral App) than when you pick up the calls on your iPhone ... meaning if they are forwarded to the cell phone carrier and go directly to the phone (not the app).

Doug,

I've got this figured out as of this morning. Make sure you have push notifications turned on so that the app can alert you to the incoming call. At that point, you'll be able to open the app and accept the call. Make sense?

Jesse - the RingCentral App needs to be running in the background in order to receive an inbound call though the app.

Kim, When you say running in the background, do you mean background app refresh in iOS? Or do you mean that there's not a way to receive the call through the app without it actually being open the whole time?

Don't swipe/close the app.  You can go to the Home button and multi task on the iPhone, but if you swipe it closed, it shuts down the app. It has to stay open to work.
