How do I remove Outlook at my default contacts list (and create a custom Contact list) in the newest version of Softphone?

I don't want my Outlook file to be my default contact list. I want to create a separate, custom list of contacts that includes the actual numbers to which I send faxes (not the > 400 contacts I never fax). I have recently been required to upgrade to the latest version of Softphone and I see absolutely no way to accomplish ANY of this. What's the trick? If it can't be done, I'll be deleting Softphone as it will be quite useless for sending faxes to my actual business clients.

Hello chick,
Here is an article for setting up RC contacts with outlook and on the desktop application.
http://success.ringcentral.com/articles/en_US/RC_Knowledge_Article/7352
This article is to turn on RC contacts for outlook, so just do the opposite.
Just follow these steps and make sure they are turned off on the contact list.

Also see this article for contact information and creating favorites.

I don't want to create favorites (from my Outlook contacts). I am stlll confused about how to create a custom contact list (like I can do on my  Ringcentral online account). Frankly, I would like to import my custom contacts from my online account into the Softphone and get rid of Outlook contacts there. Also, I would like to be able to see the inbox, outbox and sent folders on Softphone (which I used to be able to do on the older version of softphone).Also...and finally, I would like to be able to send a fax to someone not on ANY contact list. This is not possible on the newer softphone. There is no fax number field , only a name field when I try sending a fax. That's ridiculous, in my opinion. Sometimes I want to send a fax once only and I don't want to add that fax address to my contacts (to keep the contact list confined to the important contact that I fax frequently).

Thanks. That (typing in one number at a time) will be a tedious alternative compared to the simplicity of choosing the actual contacts I fax to using the online contacts. Online, I don't have to type any numbers. I can choose a whole list of fax numbers at a time, in fact on line. On the other hand, If I send 100 faxes, and have to type each number one at a time using softphone, well that's not reasonable and definitely not useable time wise.
I think the design of the new softphone was very short sighted since there was no consideration given to the possibility that someone either does not have Outlook installed or doesn't fax to any of the 400+ contacts in Outlook, but has a separate list of fax-contacts. There is no option to create a contact list separate from Outlook.

Thank you. I will not be using softphone at all.

Actually if you can import a large number of contacts/fax recipients by using the web portal by csv file.  Follow the steps here:  Importing Personal contacts in your RingCentral account

Then, these will sync with the desktop app.  You'll just need to log out, then log back in and the new contacts will appear.

What is the actual number of recipients you wish to fax too?  The fax service has a sending limit of 50 recipients max.  The system wasn't really designed for high volume/100+ recipients.

However, there is a Fax Broadcasting option available if you want to fax to 50+ recipients, you just have to send the faxes via your email client.

Follow the steps here:

The number is not an issue. I can fax 50 at a time....but none of the 50 are in my Outlook contacts. That's the point I want to make.

I just edited my response above. See the paragraph related to importing via CSV.

I already have my contacts listed in my online Ring Central account. I want to know how to import contacts to the Softphone (while deleting the Outlook Express contacts/profile).

If you import via CSV like instructed above, those contacts will show up in your Softphone.

Regarding the Outlook contacts, go to Settings > Outlook, and then turn off the two switches shown in this image.  Regarding syncing the Outlook Contacts, it's either all or none.
