Mobile App: iPhone has Video Conference OR Web Meeting?

US Account . In the new versions of the Mobile App I found now there two options: Video Conferencing, or Web Meeting. Please explain differences, restrictions, etc.

Also, other vendors are talking about "Web Conferencing" is that the same ?

Hello Claudio,

The 2 options you see in your mobile app are Conferencing and Meetings.

1. Conferencing is audio only where you have a host code and participant code. Everyone dials the number for the meeting and then uses the appropriate code. You can have 1000 participants join including from overseas.

2. Meetings is the web conferencing app that does support video if you have a webcam. It is different in that you can only have a certain amount of users but everyone connects through their web browser and also can call in using their phone if they do not have a PC microphone. (PC mic is not recommended as they tend to have quality issues but test it first as some do work ok)

Both of these apps can be downloaded from your portal from Tools. Be sure to switch to 'My Extension if you are logged in with admin rights.

iOS 9.2.1 / Ringcentral 8.0.0.1.45.44.0.6 that two options does not show up in your end ?

It does not show up like that. I press the arrow button on the app (bottom middle) that opens up the options for Conferencing and Meetings along with some other options.

I see them too. I think Phil K. is looking from the RingCentral app not the RingCentral Meetings app. It is a little confusing and also I have noticed the choice of wording is different between mobile and desktop app. From the RingCentral Meetings desktop app I have option 'start without video' and 'start with video' It is not huge to me, but I can see it confusing for some. RC should settle on what to call these options and make them consistent across apps.

To further confuse things, from the RingCentral mobile app (not meetings app) there are choices for 'conferencing' and 'meeting' This confuses some people too. I would suggest, 'audio only conference' or 'audio conference' and 'web conference' or 'video conference' or something similar.

Hello. In the RingCentral Meetings' apps selecting...

- "Video Conference / Start with Video" will automatically start the meeting with your (the host's) camera turned on. By default your participants camera will also be turned on unless they've enabled their RingCentral Meetings app's "Always Turn Off My Video" setting. Of course, all users can turn off their camera even after they've joined if they wish to.

- "Web Meeting / Start without Video" will automatically start the meeting with your and your participant's cameras turned off. Users can turn on their camera after they've joined if they wish to.

In both cases you can share your desktop/presentation. So both cases will work for you, it just depends on if you want to see each others faces or not when the meeting starts. :)

Correct, to clarify the Web Meeting is more audio (no video).

It is confusing, thanks bjsvec for backup my point. Anyway you can start with audio only and from inside start the video as well, so it not clear at all. Going back to my original question, if we have a presentation, that needs to be cast to some remote attendees, what is the option that we need to use? Please Ringcentral give us a light...

Thanks Ted, so in other words the only difference between Video Conferencing and Web Meeting is the way that start the meeting with or without the camera ON. If is this is correct, you should agree with me that the names of this two options are confusing, so please, I'm asking you because you are "Official Rep", re-think the name of this options and put just one name like "Videoconference" with a checkbox (or switch) for Video Enabled/Disabled. Finally, there is a restriction about the number of participants? we where using phone and video to share slides and Ringcentral does not allows more than 5 at the time so we switched over WebEx from Cisco... (it was a little ashamed because we have 80+ lines)...
