Change phone number used as billing Account Number and log-on number.

I just became a customer. I did not port in any existing numbers. Instead, I just picked local numbers from RC's lists of available local numbers for Main, Direct and Fax.

I have ordered Vanity numbers to replace the Main and Fax local numbers. That is still pending. Once I get those Vanity numbers, I am going to delete the existing local Main and Fax numbers that are being replaced by the Vanity numbers.

I also hope to someday soon change the local Direct number to a number that is better for me, if such a number becomes available for me to pick from RC's list.

The local Direct number is my billing "Account Number" and also the number that I use to log on to my account.

Question:  If and when I am able to change the local Direct number, will my billing "Account Number" and my log-on phone number also automatically change to reflect that new number? Or will I need to place an order for that change?

I believe it will, but it's best to run all that through your account manager. He can make certain that all numbers are associated with your account and are moved properly before you "delete" any numbers. Let him/her do that for you.

The existing Main and Fax numbers are in no way special. As I said, I did not port in any existing numbers. Instead, I just picked local numbers from RC's lists of available local numbers for Main, Direct and Fax.

The new Vanity numbers will replace the existing Main and Fax numbers. That is, the new Vanity numbers will be put into place as the Main and Fax numbers, and the old numbers will be deleted from the account. There will be no reason to keep the old numbers.

All of this has been pre-arranged through my Account Manager.

But I have found that although my Account Manager is a very nice person who works hard to do the right and correct thing and to be of great service, he is not a very good literal communicator, and we often have to write back and forth several times for me to get a simple literal answer to a simple literal question. Plus, sometimes though what he is thinking is correct, his answers are not correct as he expresses them. There is more you-know-what-I-mean mind-reading to it than I am normally comfortable with.

I always move slowly and cautiously, and I will continue to come here and ask questions to get answers that I can compare with the answers my Account Manager gives me. I want to do what is necessary in advance to save myself the time and frustration of things getting screwed up. If I was willing to throw away whole days of time and endure endless frustration, I would stick with AT&T and the circus that it has come to be.

Hello,

I am an implementation advisor with RingCentral and while it sounds like you have the billing number question under control. I wanted to comment on your desire for a better phone number for your local direct number and I can certainly look for a better number now if you'd be interested.

I am looking for a number that contains specific last four digits in any one of three to five or so specific cities with those cities' various specific prefixes and area codes.

My Account Manager went way out of his way to help me with this. He was very, very helpful in this regard. He sent me lists of all of the available RC numbers in the area codes that interest me, so that I could see what was available, and no number meeting my specifications presently appeared on those lists.

I don't think RC is going to have a number at present that fits my specs, but if you think there are other possibilities (other than getting Vanity numbers, which I have already done), then if you will provide your email address, I may contact you in this regard.

Otherwise, I'll probably just continue from time to time over the months ahead to check RC's online lists of available numbers to see if what I want happens to come available.

Thank you.

I did line forward before my previous service agreement expired.  Then I ported our main phone and fax line back to RingCentral.  They did very quick and took around 2 - 3 days.
