Polycom VVX400/410: How to configure the speed dial?

I want to set up speed dial on the VVX 410 phones that I purchased from RingCentral. I tried looking for an article on your website but did not find one.

I'm not familiar with Polycom phones but are the VVX 310 and VVX410 fairly similar? If so, you might want to try this solution, which instructs on how to set up speed dials on the VVX 310 phone.

If that doesn't work, try this solution...

JT, simple work arround that I have used for years.  Just create extensions with no phone and then in the call handeling put the phone number you want it to forward to.  Turn off things like greetings voice mail ETC.  You just want to be able to assign it to a phone via presence or just have people dial the extension and it will call that number.

Hopefully this will work for you.

Thanks

You could assign to buttons in the presence if you like but it is not a requirement

so just make user with no phone and then tell them what extension to dial? only issue would be they wouldnt be able to see what the number was or truely know what extension to dial without a house made extension list, correct?

well, sort of..  You are correct by creating a user with out a phone and putting the phone number to dial in the call forwarding section.  Then in the first and last name put like "jerry's Pizza" for example.  Make sure you activate the extension so it is green.  I have seen it not work without activating.

I create a template called Speed dials and turn off things like hold music and voice mail.

Make sense?

yeah fully activate the extension. never made a template so it'd be a first for me but sounds like it should work. the customer who would be using this will not be signing in online or anything, they just need to know what extension is what speed dial, so i have to find a good way to explain that.

RingCentral now has an article for this on their KB:

Way to go, RingCentral!

Is there a way to program these online under the User setup?

Susan,

If you're speaking of configuring this under the User Setup in the RingCentral web portal then "No"....there is no way of doing that.

Don't forget that not everyone uses a Polycom VVX 400 series phone. They would have to program that functionality into the web portal for every phone they have ever supported, the phones they currently support and add new functionality every time they support a new phone. This would apply for Polycom, Cisco, Yealink and any other phone platform they can assist in provisioning.
