I changed my voice mail to a custom setting but it still goes to default when people call

Mel - The voicemail follows the user hours.  So outside your business hours, the voicemail will be routed to After Hours, which is still set for default. If you want the custom one to be heard outside your hours, simply upload the voicemail greeting to After Hours.
