Fax: Failed Fax Troubleshooting

An associate is trying to send a fax and it is not coming through properly.  They tell me they keep trying to send it and it is not going trough.  I have received the first 36 pages of the document that is around 64.  It is a pdf and the pages I received are only about 3.3mb.  What can I do to fix this?

For large faxes, try breaking them in to 2-3 smaller faxes.  Also, this page details the most common reasons for failed faxes.  See  Fax Troubleshooting Checklist  for more troubleshooting.

If you've ruled out all of the possibilities, then you please open a support case an include your most recent samples (times, dates, fax numbers to/from etc) .

I would guess that the total size is somewhere around 6.6 mb since 36 pages was about 3.3 mb.

You can send documents in faxes 20MB in size. Are thy actually trying to send a fax (from fax machine) or are they using an e-fax service? Point is, can they not send it you via email? Something that large from a regular fax machine is more than likely going to hang up in the system.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled fax receipt error. I am running a small business that mainly rely on fax as communication tools.
Today I have not received faxes from my important customers and when I checked call logs it was showing a Fax Receipt Error. for a business like mine this is no less than slaughter, I will have unhappy customers and I will end up losing their business. Is there anyway this issue be fixed. I read it might be a compatibility issue, but I used to receive faxes from them all the time, this issue just started today.

Hi  Loudoun -

Take a look at the Fax Troubleshooting Checklist in the official response above.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Not recieving incoming fax.. I have been using RC all summer with no problems. For the past two day I have been told that each time a fax is sent they are getting a "No Answer - the remote fax machine has not answered" message. I have attempted to check my settings and checked to see if there were any known issues in the RC Cloud Phone System. What am I missing? What else should I check on my end to resolve this issue?

Hi Albert,

Just to clarify... the problem is with you receiving faxes?   Double check the number they are faxing to make sure it's not set to Voice Only.  It sounds like the sending fax machine might not be hearing the fax tone.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Reason for FAILED fax transmission. I have just started using the fax service on my desktop and laptop computers, sending reports to groups of clients. All is going well except for 4 numbers in one group which consistently show failed in the report (only show up as FAILED in the outbox, can not find any way to know the specific reason why). Never had problems with these numbers before, all are valid numbers for fax receipt.  How can I figure out the reason for the failed transmission?
